Turning increasingly to film in the 2000s, Cave wrote the Australian Western The Proposition (2005), composing its soundtrack with frequent collaborator Warren Ellis. FIDLAR are basically a celebration of late nights, bad decisions, shitty substances, nonstop parties and youthful cynicism.

It's dirty, grimy, Californian garage punk, there's not much else that needs to be said. Sonically, FIDLAR are more in the vein of bands such as Black Lips or Wavves, preferring to keep things loose and loud. Even after two full-lengths and a slew of other material, they're staying true to the Descendents' mantra 'I don't want to grow up'. Their mission statement seems to be a lack of one. They've made a name for themselves through loud guitars, cheap beer, cocaine, and a serious lack of fucks to give.
